Our Kiwanis club raises funds that support Hearts With A Mission who Serves Homeless, Runaway, And Transitional Youth In Crisis By Providing Shelter, Educational Support, Mentoring, Family Reunification, And Transition Planning With A Faith-Based Approach. We also support Maslow Project who empower homeless youth to thrive independently through supports that stabilize and engage in all aspects of life. Most recently we contributed to Safe Families for Children who hosts vulnerable children and creates extended family–like supports for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by compassion to keep children safe and families intact. Kids need Kiwanis!
Crater High School Scholarships
Through our Table Rock Kiwanis Foundation, we annually provide a scholarship to a graduating senior of Crater High School who is chosen from a group of candidates by a team of our members.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
In the past year, we have become involved with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, with donations of money and bedding as well as hands on helping at two bed building events.
All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Across the U.S., too many boys and girls go without a bed – or even a pillow – to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That’s where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. They’re a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. Their organization has grown steadily over time, and they’re working on opening more chapters in different states to serve more people.
Central Point Little League
When a couple of board members of the Central Point Little League recently spoke at our meeting, sharing the need to make major improvements to the Little League fields, we decided to jump on board and sponsor a team. Our hopes are to help out on site as opportunities arise during the renovations. Look for Table Rock Kiwanian’s out there cheering on their team.
Jewett Elementary Morning Mile
The Morning Mile™ is a before-school walking/running program that gives children the chance to start each day in an active way while enjoying fun, music and friends. That’s EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY. It’s also supported by a wonderful system of rewards, which keeps students highly motivated and frequently congratulated. Jewett Elementary School has started this program this year, and we are proud to sponsor the program.
Additional Benefactors
Additional benefactors include Youth71:FIVE ministries, Boy Scouts, Hanby Middle School Athletics, Compassion Highway Project, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Special Olympics, Baby K Dolls, City of Central Point Street Cleanup, Books for Kids, Gold Hill Kids Day, Key Clubs, and Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program.
